One Palace and Three Mausoleums
The Forbidden City in Shenyang was the former
imperial palace of Qing Taizu
Emperor Nurhachi and Qing Taizong Emperor Huang Taiji before
the Qing Dynasty
began to rule over the whole territory of China. The Shenyang
Forbidden City
was later turned into the palace of the secondary capital
and the temporary
dwelling for emperors. With an area of 60,000 square meters,
the Shenyang
Forbidden City is an ancient architectural complex with
114 buildings, and it
was built into a museum in 1926.
Qing Fuling Mausoleum, the first imperial
mausoleum with a formal name in the
Qing Dynasty, is the tomb of Qing Taizu Emperor Nurhachi
and Xiaocigao Empress
Yehenala. Covering an area of about 540,000 square meters,
the mausoleum still
boasts 32 ancient constructions.
Qing Zhaoling Mausoleum, the largest one of
the three Qing Dynasty mausoleums
in Shengjing, is the tomb of Qing Taizu Emperor Huang Taiji
and the Empress
Boerjijite. With an area of about 480,000 square meters,
the mausoleum now
still have 38 ancient constructions.
