The Mausoleum of the First
Qin Emperor and Terra-cotta Warriors
As the first emperor's mausoleum in the
Chinese history and one of the largest imperial mausoleums
in ancient China, the Mausoleum of the First Qin Emperor and
Terra-cotta Warriors are located at the northern foot of the
Lishan Hill in Lintong County, Xi'an, Shaanxi Province. 3
pits of terra-cotta warriors have been discovered, covering
25380 sq.m. More than 1400 terra-cotta warriors, 18 wooden
chariots, 100 terra-cotta horses, 10000 bronze weapons, bronze
carriages and horses, and other objects have been excavated.
Known as the 8th wonder of the world, the Mausoleum of the
First Qin Emperor and Terra-cotta Warriors, having met the
criteria Nos.1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 for inclusion of cultural properties
on the World Heritage List, were put on the World Heritage
List by UNESCO in 1987.
