Lushan National Park
Situated in northern Jiangxi Province, Mt.Lushan
National Park is close by the Yangtze River on the north and
the Lake Poyang on the east, extending 302 sq.km. Its major
Dahanyang Peak elevates 1474 m. above sea-level. The great
mountain, the great river and the great lake have merged into
a unified picture. Unique glacial remains of the Quaternary
Period and varied geomorphic features are to be found here.
Noted naturally and physically for its peculiarity, beauty,
grandeur and danger, Mt.Lushan National Park with a legacy
of history and culture is also reputable culturally, educationally,
religiously, politically and internationally. Today well-preserved
cultural relics and sites at all levels number as many as
41. Having met the criteria Nos.2, 3, 4, 6 for inclusion of
cultural properties on the World Heritage List, Mt.Lushan
National Park was inscribed on the World Heritage List by
UNESCO in 1996.
