Jiuzhaigou Valley Scenic
and Historic Interest Area
Located at Jiuzhaigou County, Aba Tibetan
and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, Jiuzhaigou
Valley Scenic and Historic Interest Area, covering 1320 sq.km.,
is made up of Shuzheng, Rize and Zechawa Gullies in the shape
of "V", measuring 50 km. long and going through
forests, vales and snow-capped mountains with an altitude
difference of over 1000 m. There're altogether 114 terraced
lakes and lakelets, 17 waterfalls, 5 calcareous tufa shoals,
47 springs, 11 rapids, 2400-odd varieties of plants and trees,
17 rare species of animals at Jiuzhaigou Valley Scenic and
Historic Interest Area, combining natural splendors with Tibetan
customs into a whole. Having met the criteria No.3 for inclusion
of natural properties on the World Heritage List, Jiuzhaigou
Valley Scenic and Historic Interest Area was inscribed on
the World Heritage List by UNESCO in 1992.
