Mt.Huangshan

Covering 154 sq.km. and lying in southern Anhui Province, Mt.Huangshan, known as No.1 Wonderful Mountain under the Sun, has over 400 scenic spots and is celebrated for its fantastic pines, grotesque rocks, sea of clouds and hot springs. Its cultural heritage has long been cherished. Historically, more than 20000 poems were written in praise of Mt.Huangshan, and the Mt.Huangshan school of painting came into being. About 100 old buildings and 200 cliff carvings have survived to the present day. Having met the criteria No.2 for inclusion of cultural properties and Nos.3, 4 for inclusion of natural properties on the World Heritage List, Mt.Huangshan was inscribed on the World Heritage List by UNESCO in 1990.
