Huanglong Scenic and Historic Interest Area

Huanglong Scenic and Historic Interest Area, covering 1340 sq.km., is located at Songpan County, Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province. Well-preserved are its glacial traces, headwater, complex geological structure and landforms. There're varieties of attractions, of which colorful pools, snow-clad mountains, deep gorges and dense forests are known far and wide. Like a huge golden dragon, travertine follows a winding course through virgin forests between rocks and snow-clad mountains, forming unique scenic splendors of terraced colorful pools and roaring waterfalls. The primeval ecological features and valuable species of flora and fauna there are kept in their integrity. Having met the criteria No.3 for inclusion of natural properties on the World Heritage List, Huanglong Scenic and Historic Interest Area was inscribed on the World Heritage List in 1992.
